Is friends work trying a fast one?
Discussion
Hi All
Bit of a wierd one this.
My friend works for a company and has received a letter from them saying she has under paid her tax and that the company has paid the difference for her and that she now owes them £349.
There is also 2 other staff that have had the same letter for exactly the same amount, all three staff work different shifts and hours.
One of the ladies has been in contact with the tax office and has been told that everything is correct and that she does not owe anything.
All staff are on the books and apparently there is a large amount of staff throughout the group who have had letters claiming this overpayment and that the company has paid it, that they now owe the company £££.
Company is ???? and have googled them and tax but nothing is showing up.
does anyone know how or where to go to find out if this is correct.
Thanks in advance.

normally hmrc write to you direct.
contact HMRC and speak to them directly, keep the letter from your company.
do not pay until you speak to hmrc
