Best place to move overseas for a new start ? Advice needed

Hello guys/gurls

After some serious thought I have decided I have had enough of the uk and looking to move overseas to make a new start for myself. I have no commitments and I believe im at 26 years old im at the right age to make the move. Im currently living with my parents, they dont want me around, i dont have a job, infact i lost it in june but have savings in the bank.


Im a plumber and have been for 5 years with city and guilds etc gas ACS qualifications, i know the qualifications may not mean much where ever i decide on but the experience part would.


I know its hard to get into america and i wouldnt even try it, but Canada or australia look like a good option to me.

What are your views on Canada or Australia ? based on my qualifications, how easy it would be to get a job? i wouldnt be going there to just do plumbing id do anything to begin with to find my feet

I have always fancied New Zealand. I believe that they have a points system like Australia though, so best to check what workers they're looking for at the moment.

The Canadian economy is not in bad shape and there is a lot of construction wook across the country......Toronto,Calgary or Vancouver. I have lived here for a fairly long time and its not a bad place at all.

America is nowhere near as hard to get a visa for as it's cracked up to be, though I'm told Canada is easier. There's not many, if any places I'd choose in preference to the US, it's by no means perfect, and there's always downsides, but I love the place. No shortage of options either, very diverse given how big it is. Canada rates pretty damn high for quality of life though, I like it a lot.

Come to New Zealand - there's more work than you can throw a kiwi at and anyone with the right attitude can really go places.

Life's easy here, the locals are friendly, we have 4 seasons, fine summers, great roads and a lovely outlook on life.

Australia?

It's too hot, has snakes as long as your garden, spiders as big your head, sneaky traffic police enforcing silly rules and worst of all it's full of Aussies.

I'm currently in NZ, its a fantastic place and what with the earthquakes there is more work for tradestaff in Christchurch than you could imagine, and as above the people are great. The weather is a true 4 seasons and the scenery is magnificent (roads arn't bad either)

Australia is good for work right now aswell and pay is more than acceptable, although as above the problem with Australia is theres too many aussies!

They make bloody nice cars though.....

Traditional low-risk routes to Aus, NZ, US and Canada are well trodden but still offer fair employment prospects. If you're really adventurous, then you should be heading to a BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India or China); this is where true pioneering opportunity lies. Not for the faint hearted, but the rewards could be truly gargantuan. Good luck!
