Offshore Oil & Gas Can You Help?
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if there is anyone out there that might be able to help me out a bit.
I am currently unemployed and am hoping to get a job Offshore, prefferably in a mechanical discipline, however I'm getting to the point where I will do anything.
I have the following qualifications:
BOSIET
MIST
UKOOA Medical
Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering
ONC in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
NVQ3 in Engineering
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
+ Numerous NVQ2's, a City & Guilds, RYA Diesel Engine Certificate, RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate and more!
I have been upto Aberdeen for a week handing in CV's to the big companies and a few agencies to no avail.
I will be going back to Aberdeen for another go next week.
If anyone can provide any contacts or information on available positions, anything would be very appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Samm

What companies have you been trying ?
What is your work experience ?
With what you have written and presuming you are under 30 I would focus on the service companies.
This will not be rotation but ad - hoc to start and depending the discipline may lead to a regular rotation down the line.
Try The likes of Expro, Aker QServ, Halliburton, Schlumberger, BJ (now part of Baker), Weatherford, etc.

I worked at British Aerospace for 5 1/2 years. Started as an apprentice, was a mechanical fitter manufacturing, servicing and repairing aircraft and then worked in facilities management.
Will try QServ, Schlumberger, BJ / Baker.
Thanks for your help mate.
