Halfway through a job application, and i've been asked if i have a National Record of Achievement. Anybody know what this is?

It's a waste-of-paper book that does exactly as it says.

You get given it at secondary school to record your achievements.

I think anyone who actually takes it to an interview (unless specifically asked to) deserves to be pointed and laughed at.

I remember being given one of them when I left school in 1992. its basically a red faux leather bound book of plastic sleeves to store exam certificates and the like. Didn't realise they were still doing them thought they were a flash in the pan

I think my mum still has mine at home somewhere (left school in 1994). I don't think it's ever seen the light of day since then.

Apprenticeship interview, was given the impression at the time that they were essential, proven false quickly.

Universities are now talking about producing the equivalent "portfolio" (aka yet another way of disguising the fact that it's getting harder and harder to award a fail to those who deserve it because of modularisation and the death of final exams).

I think all of my certiciates are stashed away in my ROA somewhere.

I didn't have one but my husband has and says it's a booklet of pointless certificates you accumulate through school.

So what happens if you don't have one?

nothing.

we had them at my school, but you had to complie everything to put into it yourself. i never bothered, didn't even collect the red book thing. i also lost my exam result certificates years ago and lost my degree cert. a while back as well. no employer has ever asked to see any of this.

Try working in the financial sector. I've been asked for 30+ year old O level certs by a screening company FFS.

Probably looking for a head count reduction and a lie or over inflation on your CV and you are an easy target.

I've never been asked for exam certificates either but I haven't a clue where they are. Inside my NRA probably.

You just take your certificates in another folder

As you can guess many people on this thread dont take their NRA folder to interviews anyway.

I'd guess because a good percentage of PH members either pre-date the formal NRA or went to public schools so don't have them, also after a while your last job is more important than your GCSE results especially as they won't be all A* not that I'm bitter.

Not even sure I'd be able to lay my hands on any certificates. Haven't seen them in years. This is completely beside the point though.

Current job I have now I had to take my certificates as well as a proper form of ID (passport). They may as well take them at interview stage to save time when they offer the job later i guess.
