Brits working down under

So I've recently been looking at jobs in Australia, I'm currently a vehicle technician in the UK and I've been looking at similar jobs down under.

Has anyone on here taken the plunge and moved to Oz or know anyone that has?

Just looking for some advise\experiences really.

I went for a couple of years on a working holiday visa, drove pretty much everywhere and picked up work along the way when we ran out of money. It was brilliant

Your job will travel well so you could get a working holiday visa, buy a car and spend a few months seeing the place first to get a feel for it. After a few months of that you should know whether it's for you or not and you can make a decision from that.

If you go for a permanent residency then you're more restricted in where you can go as they send people whereever the job is needed.

I'm in Perth. It's about 25% British here.
Plenty of opportunities here too.

It is expensive until you start earning local currency though, so you'll need savings.

No, he's not. Even a cursory glance at the information out there for a working holiday visa would tell you that, of course.
