Any phlebotomists lurking??

As above really, just wondering as I'm tempted to have a bash at this.
I'm leaving the Police after 24yrs service, and previously being a tactical medic, which did involve taking blood etc
I've a few plans up my sleeve but fancy giving the phlebotomy training course a good go, with a view to getting a job somewhere.
Any tips or hints folks

They are fantastic at what they do. Can nine times out of ten get it when I can't or an fy is having difficulty.
Being respectful, I do have to feel that it is very boring. That's all you do. There is never any decision making of why you need to take the blood, or what the results mean. It's just take the blood. Not so much stimulus so to speak.
I think after 25 years with the Police you would find it very boring after the first couple of weeks.

Phlebotomists are fairly poorly paid, and getting a full-time contract may be a challenge (it's mainly a p/t sport in most hospitals). Additionally, you don't need to be a phlebotomist to take blood, which makes them vulnerable as an entity if an organisation is looking to make cuts (which for example, the NHS is; £20bn over the next 4 years); it can simply ask other existing healthcare staff to do what they do. You may wish to think about combining phlebotomy with healthcare assistant, which may give you additional redundancy. Good luck!
