Rubbish "good" jobs and good "rubbish" jobs.

I've seen the odd postings on here from people who have what are generally reckoned to be good jobs/careers who say they wish they had never started it and even that it's quite painful going in every day.
So which "good" jobs are there that are actually quite crap and what generally thought of as "rubbish" jobs are there that are actually pretty good. Obviously opinions will differ and people find they made the wrong career choice when it is too late/difficult to change, are there any trends though?

Can't believe I'm about to post this on PH... but I used to love working in McDonalds!

Great teamwork, fast pace in the kitchen & generally good work ethic. Shifts used to fly by & we'd all go out together on a sat night. I think I had a good group of colleagues all at the same age/place in life.

Don't knock it, McD is consistently thought to be one of the best employers in the country.(I was at college at the time... about 14 years ago!)

I'm a scientist working in universities, its hard work if you want it to be (I'm there now) the pay is shot compared to my similarly or less well qualified contemporaries from university days, but the job is ace and I have never no wanted to go to work in the morning. The big doubt if whether I can get a permanent position as a lecturer in tr next few years, if I don't make it my life is seriously set back by about 10 years.
When I left t'army I worked for Domino's for a while delivering pizzas in the evenings to help make the transition from good army pay to crap civvie pay a bit more bearable.
Honestly, if it paid more than minimum wage, I'd happily do that for a living. Stress free, a good laugh, there's just something right about being a man delivering stuff!

One of my first "proper" jobs (paper-round notwithstanding) was at Wendy's in Watford, flipping burgers. I bloody loved it. Hot and busy, but letching at the talent coming through the doors all day and then impromptu parties after we'd closed for the night.I don't know if lorry driving is considered a "rubbish" job, but:
a) I love doing it
b) I'm almost embarrassingly well paid for doing it, and
c) It's actually a piece of piss

I work for a charity for mentally disabled adults (albeit, I'm in the finance area). Possibly the most rewarding job/place of work possible. I get to see middle aged people who have never had a hope, doing things that you or I would take for granted every day. Great work!

The pay was ok back then too
So did I, but 20 years ago, and I thought it was superb too. I was agency staff, so the money was ace. The pay was ok back then too

I do a bit of owner driver delivery work when some of the depots have more deliveries than drivers. I really enjoy it. unlike my normal job where I have to spend time dealing with idiot customers, I spend all day driving and get paid very well for it.a) I love doing it

But the way some people turn up their noses when you tell them you're a delivery driver, and there is no social side to it, you are on your own all day.
as lester burnham noted in 'american beauty', the best jobs are the ones where you have zero respnsibility and tons of laughs. the best for this, ime, have been bar jobs - nothing is ever serious and their is a high rate of inter-staff shagging.
thing is, this is only true if:
a] you are young and have no responsibilities/outgoings.
b] are an eccentric millionaire so the above is also true.
in adult mode, the only job i've enjoyed is the one i have now. the product/industry isn't exactly sexy, but the role [very fast paced, lots of responsibility, LOTS of international travel] and environment [zero tax, young workforce, expat social scene] more than make up for that.
becoming an expat in itself [esp. if the pay hike and tax cuts are on your side] can make most dull jobs interesting.

Probably the happiest man I've ever seen in his work was a bus driver.It was along the coast road of Queensland out north from Townsville which I imagine helped, but still it was "just" driving a bus.
Really enjoyed working for William Hill when I was younger.
But I used to do a full board. Was very interesting and fast paced. But it doesn't work like that now.
More recently, doing IT for a hospice was very rewarding.
Feel good factor for being helpful to a charity.
Lots of nurses to work with.
Financially ruinous though.
