Contracting question - Where's my fecking contract.

Now, I've been doing an 'interim' role for a little while and the contract finishes next week.
I've carefully and politely turned down a permanent job, and they went out and recruited a guy who I've spent 6 weeks training to do the job, which I didn't get training for (that's contracting - in at the deep end)

Anyway, I was quite looking forward to spending January Searching for the next contract, when someone in another part of the company decides I'd be perfect for a little dirty job nobody else wants.

Fair enough, so I negotiate the rate, and let the agency know that I'm expecting a new contract with a new title, and a new rate.

With me so far. Rate already Agreed by some hiring managers boss, due to start 3rd Jan.

That was 3 weeks ago. I decided that I'd take the next 3 weeks off as I've budgeted for 2 months off anyway.

I've had smoke and mirrors, excuses, and quite frankly it's pathetic. There's even a person who works for the agency with the Surname Delay. No really.

In the meantime, I'd getting contacted by other agencies about Jobs at hourly rates that are more (as in alot more)

So, whilst I don't want to ps off the current client, being the biggest aerospace manufacturer in the Derby, I'm finding myself drawn to other opportunities in Solihull.

I'm thinking : I break up tomorrow, so turn off my phone, and wait until the 6th before doing anything. Take 3 weeks off and don't think about it ?

Don't turn the phone off though. Just fire off a quick mail to the hiring manager letting him know you're out of contact till the New Year (and explain the clusterf&*k at the contract end) - means he doesn't have to worry unduly.
