Ok ill put you in the picture whats been going on as there has been a number of issues
Just before christmas I was working for a local family firm where everyone in the firm were related apart from myself so I did feel a bit excluded right from day one.
Now ive been doing the job for over 10 years so I basically know what im doing and I pride myself on the quality of work.
There has never been any issues before with my work with previous employers so I could provide good references.
Right from week one there were issues with the wages.
At first I assumed it was just error with the banks what with it being a new transaction so I assumed it would sort itself out.
Every week after it was the same now I was suppossed to be paid on the Friday but in some case's it was getting paid until 3 to 4 days later everytime I tried to ring the accounts they were not availble.
After speaking to one of the nephews asking if he was having problems with his wages as I had'nt been paid that week he informed me that he had already been paid on the Friday in cash and not via the bank as had his cousin aswell.
So when the boss arrives at the office I ask him why I hadnt been paid and was there a problem with the banks but at the same time not mentioning I knew about the cash payments he looks up and tells me he will sort it 2 days later I get paid.
Also I noticed on the wage slips the amount of hours I actually worked was not on them so I may have been under paid or even over paid.
Now the following week Im called into the office for a chat where he looks up says its not working out and he has had some complaints regarding my work and also taking longer to do the job than he liked (not helped by the fact I was working with an injury).
Which I know is untrue because I always go round with the customers before leaving so if there is anything wrong I can put them right and my customers were happy and pleased with the work.
He also said I left one particlar ongoing job with marks scratches on the glass which would need replacing.
I know is complete and utter b
ks as the marks he was refering to were from a rubber mallet with a wooden handle.
Anyone with half a brain will know rubber/wood are softer compounds and it is not possible to scratch glass with a softer compound material.
After the first week I found both my arms were in severe pain, I just put this down to pulled muscle or a strain were I had been off work for a while.
So I bascially dosed myself up with pain killers and got on with the job as best as I could.
Ive since found out ive damaged the tendons and ligaments in both arms and have to have psyshio with the possible chance I may need a op to correct.
I live in small village where people talk and ive since heard things that make my p
s boil Im now in 2 minds to go down and smack the p
k in the mouth.
The way I see it is he could not afford to employ me from day one and there is and has been money issues but is using excuses just to save face.
Where do I stand can I claim for the injury I done at work as until I started working with them I had no previous problems with my arms.
On the plus side I am working for someone else who is happy with my work and I get paid on time aswell
excuse the grammar and spelling ta muchly

I fear they have the law on their side. Shame for you, but it is the reason why I don't like dealing with family firms. Never been employed by one, but doing business with one can be a nightmare.
I had a problem with the service I was getting so complained to my contact there. He told me the problem would be sorted, and it wasn't. I got more angry and in the end he told me his hands were tied, he wasn't going to grass the owner's son up to his Dad or dish out a b
king. No way to run a business.
The best advice I can give - and there are far more qualified people on here than me - is to either move on or give them a bit of a scare. Make noises about lawyers, the papers, internet telling their customers etc etc. They probably pride themselves on their reputation and are also probably quite complacent about being the in family in the village.
Be careful not to slander or libel them.
You could go to them, put them on notice that the tittle tattle stops or you'll place them in a publicity s
t storm and sue them for industiral injury. All bluff as that ain't going to happen in reality but they may be thick enough to buy it and give you a few quid to bugger off.]
Either way, good luck.

From the point of not being paid and his 'relatives' being paid in cash, go to either CAB or Inland Revenue and ask for him to be investigated for tax evasion. Bit of an underhanded/spiteful thing to do, but if you feel that strongly about it, it's an avenue worth exploring.
With rumors going round and vengeful words being spoken about you behind your back, I'm a firm believer in confronting people about this. If they have something to say, say it to your face (well, he kind of did when you were sacked..) but by confronting him about it, one of two things will happen - 1) the truth will come out or 2) he forms a little bit of respect for you for having some balls and cuts out the crap he's been talking.
As for the injury, no offence intended with this at all, but MTFU and get it fixed yourself. Working for his company did not injure you, the way you did things injured you and it would have happened with any company you were working at.

this is where you lost any sympathy from me!
you are just whining.
was the money right or not? you know what you were expecting, surely!
did you report a specific accident which damaged your arm?
Would of let it drop but like I explained in the OP I live in a small village if he had'nt slated me I would of let it go and just put it down to experience.you are just whining.

But sadly I cant im assuming he would be covered on his insurance.
I also forgot to mention im still owed 3 days pay.
It just seems strange that when I questioned my wages he found an excuse to get rid

Not quite getting the whole picture here.
What do you do to make your arms hurt?
Through lifting and carrying heavy building materials basically ive pulled all the tendons and ligaments in my fore arms. What do you do to make your arms hurt?
Resulting in me being to have a proper grip and hold things even holding a cup of coffee is painfull.
I also forgot to mention the fact he knew I had problems with arms.

I'm guessing from the sketchy details you are a glazer and one that maybe deals in large panels or maybe large sealed units?
You also mentioned working in this line of work for 10 years - with this company or in total in the field?
You are correct my friend ive worked in that field for well over 10 years so Ive plenty of expierenceYou also mentioned working in this line of work for 10 years - with this company or in total in the field?
I worked for one company for 7 years plus until they went bust with no complaints.
I only moved down to where I live in March so im still really an outsider.
Since this happened ive now changed jobs completly and have gone back into the motor trade preparing and servicing cars for retail sale.
I still struggle with my arms but if im struggling with lifting I get someone to help.
My new employers are pretty cool with it, as I informed them before I started.

I would have presumed that the company thought your previous experience ensured you knew how to move and handle equipment.
Was there something very unusual with the way they had you working ?
There is a responsibility for the employer to ensure the correct conditions, training, equipment is made available but there is also a responsibility on the employee.
