timescale to be told if you have been succesfull for new job

Went for a job interview a week past on Thursday and have not heard anything back from employer yet.Is it ok to phone and ask what is happening or do i just sit and wait.Job is for offshore and they still had a couple of interviews to hold after mine.

just send them a email saying nice to meet u etc and really hope things go your way as u are really up for it etc

Give them a bell and ask. You should have asked in the interview when you would hear something by, and if that period passes you are well within your rights to chase it up!

I got a job once by ringing up after about a week, IIRC. The bloke concerned was a bit busy with various stuff, and by ringing I showed I was still keen, all he had to do then was say 'start on Monday', which he did, so I did.

Drop them a thank you email!

First they may still be interviewing and havent made a decision yet.

They may have completed interviewing and though you arent first choice, you are first reserve in case the other guy turns it down.

They may have three equal candidates and are sat there ready to offer it to the first that gets in touch!

Either way , quick follow up emai ( few good examples on internet showing how to stress that you want the job, your qualities etc) cant do any harm.

Took me grand total of 2hrs to get the nod last week. They even cancelled interviews taking place after mine...

Decided to phone yesterday,spoke to the girl who was arranging the interviews.Was told that no decision had been made due to having to rearrange a couple of the other interviews.Have been assured i will be contacted either way.
