1st short term contract advice

Going contracting for first time next week (start Tuesday) and was wondering if it's best to go self employed or get paid via my girlfriend's company.

Bit short notice but only offered role yesterday. Also have no idea how long it's for; it's to cover somebody of sick, could be a week, could be a month.

I'm sure someone else will be along in a minute but what makes you think you are self employed? It's not just a case of declaring you are, there are number of conditions that need to be fulfilled.
