Five interviews for one job? Feel anally violated...
Discussion
Currently job searching...and over the past few weeks i have never experienced anything like it.
For one job i had five interviews. On all occasions i barely had 1-2days to prepare. On some occasions the VP or whatever would want to talk during workhours etc...
Even still i have to go through HR interview which i have been told is a formality. Even though i have been offered a position...
It never used to be this hard!!!!!! Is it like this everywhere???
IMHO, within 15 minutes i can tell whether or not i want someone in my team.

I had seven to get the job here.
Lots of candidates, few jobs.
I had 7 (3 face to face 4 phone) for a microsoft travel company in London. All looking ok and then they filled the job internally, wLots of candidates, few jobs.
kers.Lucky though as I met a great girl at the job that I next interviewed for and got, I'm still married to her.

Seven! I agree on the lots of candidates and few job bit. But in your opinion dont you think seven is way too much? Lots of candidates, few jobs.
Credit where credit is due though Soovy
EDIT: You are in IB.....same as me then to some extent...
Maybe this is the way banks/ hyooge companies do things...

I would suggest getting over it and dealing with it.
I had 7 for one job last year, plus the HR interview and a couple of calls first (excluding the 2 they cancelled when I had flown in / was at the airport flying in). Was offered the job and agreed numbers...and it went before the contract was signed to an internal candidate (who was at risk in a different role within said organisation).
It's life. It's a tough market and it's just how it is. The £3k in travel costs smart a bit...but it's what needed to be done to interveiew for said role.

Notwithstanding the fact that interviews are the least effective way of selecting individuals to roles; evidence recently published suggests that all interview questions stem from 3 core questions: can you do the job; will you enjoy doing the job; and will you fit in to the organisation? It's this latter question that can often be ascertained quite quickly.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
