apprentship redundacy

Does any body know the laws on making a apprentice reduntant? My daughter was made reduntant today with a phone call from her boss for lateness!

How long have they been working there ? Less than a year, then they can be fired for any reason whatsoever, without even an explanation.

Doesn't sound she was made redundant (as in, her job is no longer there at the company), merely fired for lateness.

But in her contract they have the 3 step prosedure for wrong doings but he said he was making her reduntant as of today,
Still thought you had to follow a procedure for redundacy's ?

Redundancies should have a procedure. But, the procedure might not be necessary if she has been working there less than a year.

I am unsure whether she may have a get out of jail free card based on the boss saying 'redundancy' whether he actually meant redundancy or not.
