CV advice

Right, I'm currently updating my CV and need some advice regarding previous employment.

I worked for Company A for 3 years and left to join Company B (different industry). However, the job at Company B was nothing like I was told during the interview process and the training was of a very poor standard IMO.
I was unhappy at Company B and my previous manager at Company A offered me my old job back, which I took.

I was only at Company B for 3 months.

My question is, should I include the time at Company B on my CV?

I'm worried it may be seen as a negative by potential employers and could result in my CV being thrown into the shredder fairly quick. I can't exactly go into great detail why I left that job on the CV, can I?

I feel if the question was to arise during any interviews, I could fully explain myself and put it across in a positive manner. The problem is, will it damage my chances of actually getting as far as an interview.

Any help/advice is very much appreciated.

You should include it. A CV is factual; listing your employment and the impact you made; if they have questions they will raise it at interview as you say. If you start from a position of 'cover-up', things could get tricky. Happy to have a scan once you're ready to go if that would help. Good luck!

I'd view the fact that A wanted you back as a good thing.

I did the same in my 20's, although I was only in the 'B' job for 6 weeks, I had B on my Cv for the next job application but then dropped it off, and it has not been on my CV since. I left it on while I needed a reference from A, as the dates may not tie up and could cause a problem.

It was a 3 month contract. You took it to start a new direction and then suddenly your old boss called with a new job offer at a much better rate than previously and you were happy to accept as to be honest you prefer being a permie rather than contract.

Simples.

It is. I have two instances on my CV of going back to a previous employer at a higher level.

Include it, it's good news.
