Following from a conversation with a colleague on the subject of escaping the motor trade I'd thought I would put this to the learned ph masses.

As a master technician with an electronics biase to what other industries would this skill set be transferable too?

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions in advanced.

I too would interested in this, working in the motor trade and feeling very under valued!

You'd have to retrain, but you have relevant transferable skills for being a marine engineering OOW or an Electro Technical Officer(ETO)(posh name for marine sparks). Look here. If you already have an HND you may be able to qualify quicker.

Thanks hte unfortunately there's not many folks with hnd's floating around in dealerships, as a long term prospect working in the aftersales sector isn't very promising as you get older so thought I'd look at options whilst all my hair hasn't gone grey

Whilst looking at your technical skills only would produce the usual responses, a more detailed review of your other competencies and experiences, as well as identifying your ambitions and level of personal drive that you most certainly have, opportunities in other sectors may well be an option. PM me if a more detailed response would be helpful. Good luck!
