Is it worth going for a HGV licence?

I've been unemployed for a few months now and i've been reading on the HGV side of things and wondered if it was worth paying £1.5k to go for this?

a local company is throwing in fork lift licence too if you go for one of the packages on offer.

and i promise no hostage taking should i fail.

and no dead hookers should i pass.

in my expearience No !

license good idea but you need experience first and most agencies want 2 years experience. You can do this as class 2 but it will most likely st work.

It's another thing to yer' doo-dah. Or something like that. A fair bit of upfront investment mind.

Assuming it all works out, your next hurdle is getting the experience (the ol' Catch 22). It'll be C2 work via an agency, most probably at a supermarket RDC. Expect 'phone calls at ALL hours, days and days of nothing followed by all the work your tachocard can take, and LOTS of waiting around, usually in cramped portacabins at said RDC. With a broken coffee machine...

Christmas, the height of summer and bad weather (snow) will be the busy times. Right when it's hell on the roads!

It's worth doing if it's what you really want to do. If it's not what you really want to do, then don't, and direct your energies and finances elsewhere. Good luck!
