Hong Kong - Contract Position

I have been offered a contract position in Hong Kong.
The snag is there is no relocation cost, and I will need to get myself sorted.
What sort of monthly outgoings am I looking at? Ideally I would like to stay on the island itself.
Is accommodation fitted out or not? What about electricity, water, internet and mobile costs?
Although I have been to Hong Kong numerous times - I have no idea about relocating.

Rent will be by far your main outgoing - comparable to Central London if you are on the island. Expect to pay at least HKD20k (£1,650) per month for a 600-800 square-foot flat - more if you pick a desirable area such as Happy Valley or Mid-Levels.
If you're willing to live a bit further out you can rent for cheaper. HK is a small place and transport links are excellent, so compared to the UK the commute times are very short even living outside HK Island.
Utilities are not included - budget HKD2,500k/month (£208) for these for a small flat. Council tax is paid for by the landlord.
The good news is that you will pay much less income tax than in the UK which will go towards covering your rent. You'll not need a car and by UK standards public transport is cheap, as is food and the general cost of living. My experience with HK vs UK is that even with the high rent, in HK you have more money in your pocket every month. Although it's very very easy to spend everything that you earn on dining and drinking and visiting neighbouring countries.
