Well, after applying for over 30 jobs, attending 8 interviews, turning down 2 offers (one was an easy decision, one not so), I start my new job tomorrow as a Maintenance Team Leader with an engineering company, so of course I'm chuffed to bits.

My only concern is a slight bout of nervousness/anxiety that seems to be creeping in, does anyone have any tips for getting through my first days without any worries?

Cheers smile

That's a good sign...it means you taking it seriously. I'd wager you'll be on top form and the nerves will last 5 minutes. Good luck and well done.

Sorry, that sounded really patronising didn't it?! Wasn't meant that way!

Thanks Chilli. To be honest, both interviews I had with them, they made me feel right at home, even the 2nd interview with the MD!
I guess the nerves are perfectly natural, and I'll soon learn how to be a 'civvy' again .

I can't wait to get stuck in. biggrin

I bet once you get there you'll be so busy you won't have time to be nervous smile

Congrats on the new job!

Roll with it. You'll be fine and you know it. Civvies are soft. You can take 'em if it comes down to it wink

Well, first couple of days have went ok for me. Very, very busy helping my lads out with reactive maintenance. Over the coming months, myself and other managers are aiming to introduced a proper planned maintenance schedule on the 20+ CNC machines that we have. Maintenance has been somewhat neglected since the downturn in 2008, but the order books are full these days so the machines need proper maintenance more than ever.

A challenge no doubt, but something to aim for. smile
