Linkedin - can I make changes without telling everyone?

I've got more than a few colleagues who would think something was up if they started receiving updates to my Linkedin profile, even if it's fairly normal for prople to keep their roles and experience up to date. Is there a way I can amend my status and history without them being broadcast to the world?

Go to your account settings and you can toggle on/off broadcasting your updates
