Part time IT role

Mrs Weasel is looking to get back to work after a career break to have kids. She's an IT professional - test / project manager type with ISEB and Prince2 qualifications. The constraint here is that she wants part time work up to a max of 3 days per week. Happy to go contracting or a permie role. Location would need to be south midlands.

Do any agencies specialise in this scenario? All she seems to get is full time role requirements. Can anyone help?

Don't want this to sound too blunt, but the fact is the market - especially the contract market - will want fulltime.

The extra two days a week will pay for the childcare...

Its not just about paying for childcare, not everyone wants their kids in fulltime childcare.

OP - I have come across plenty of part-time PMs in my time - particularly when I worked at EDS.

I don't know any agencies who specialize in this. Certainly in my experience larger firms would be more open to a PT PM as they will have the resources to cover the other two days per week with a point of contact.

PT roles will be fewer so it may just take longer to find.

Would you consider MK as south midlands? The Open University have a lot of contract roles and many are PT.

Thanks. MK might be just do-able. Public Sector is an area we have discussed for the flexible working reasons.

You would have thought there was an agency specialising in roles for working mums! There's a business idea!

Try and find a similarly qualified returner and pitch up as a job-share.

I too have seeked part time contract work in the same arena and have found little to no opportunites.

It makes perfect sense I suppose as most if not all projects are cost driven which results in too much work and never enough manpower - as a PM have you ever complained about lack of resource? I find it is a constant risk on any project I've seen.

I've worked with lots of p/t PMs and BAs - all permies though.

That's true in my experience too. Especially in public sector.
