Legitimate working from Home opportunities?

Hi everyone,

The other half doesn't work due to the age of our children and i was just wondering if anyone had any experience of legitimate ways to earn a couple of extra pounds from home?

She hasn't any particular transferrable skills from her previous jobs i.e. I.T or languages etc, but just looking for any tips or sites that i could look into.

I've tried google but i'm worried that most seem like scams or paid surveys which return about 20p for 30 minutes work.

I'm not expecting her to earn £1k a month but even £50 - £80 would do for using some of her spare time productively.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

What about her previous employment? Nothing she can do there from home?

Mrs Puggit is a Pampered Chef consultant. She works a couple of evenings a week and typically makes £40-80 per evening.

It's a bit like Tuppaware parties, but much more modern with some decent kitchenware appliances, knives, pans etc.

People who host parties gain points depending on how much gets bought by guests, and the points then get spent on goodies for the host.

Consultants can hire new consultants, and then get promoted on how many they recruit, earning more commission. A bit like a pyramid scheme, only there's zero risk (or I wouldn't let her do it!).

The best thing is it works around the family! Mrs Puggit is home during the day, does the school run etc

Edited to add - Mrs Puggit was a very technical IT techie with zero sales experience before children!

If she has contributed to an output (held down a job), she will have transferable skills.

Thanks for the comments and ideas.

When i said she hasn't any transferable skills, i just meant a lot i'd seen were for I.T related work and online tutoring such as foreign languages etc. This type of work would not be appropriate as she hesn't the experience or knowledge.

Thanks for the kitchenware idea, although i dont know if she's a little shy to arrange and host parties/gatherings.

Selling - Avon, Betterware, Kleeneze (? do they still exist?) - all set up to deliver catalogues, then go back and collect orders, then go back and deliver goods.

Parties - Ann Summers, Pampered Chef and similar - will require some confidence

Other- baking cakes to sell, child minding, typing, bookwork or buildig websites for small businesses
