Can anyone give me some idea of the approximate monthly earnings of a delivery driver working for one of the main parcels companies?

Also of a vehicle delivery driver (Not HGV).

I think DHL and Parcelforce drivers are effectively self employed and get paid per drop. I'd imagine the earnings vary wildly.

Bizzpost are almost 100% owner drivers, was about £1/con (1st item then 10p), 9am drops £2/con 1st item

dont do it......lol

you will need a liveried van via Norflex "van in a box" at £125/week plus fuel plus at least a months wages till you get paid

Multidrop is the curse of the delivery work, do sameday, scotland overnight, 1 drop, brekky and home

Trade plate driving? make your own way and collect car or drive and drop and thumb it home?

my mate did it and made £200 a week but was out all hours, soaked, cold....and usually lost

I did agency driving for about 4 months with a courier company in Crawley. Fair enough, it was 7.5t and it was delivering everything and anything.

Start times varied, and there could be long hours involved.

Being agency, the money was rubbish hence why I left. £280 less tax. The company run drivers were basically self employed, and were paid 1/2 of whatever the job was worth. The problem with that is that you never know what you're going to be paid as job arrived ad hoc.

Personally, I loved the job. If the money was better I'd still be there.

Since my dad retired he's started doing this. Money obviously isn't great but for him it's extra pocket money and keeps him active.
They cover his fuel at a fixed figure per mile plus 50p per drop (IIRC).

Just seen this. I've only been in the job nearing 2 months, but I think we're around £20k pa.

How does one get into doing sameday long distance drops?

might be a good way to kill a day off.

Not everyone wants to be / can be a company director on a 6 figure salary.

Five, 7.30am to 5.30pm standard, finishes between 6 and 8pm are relatively common, depends on traffic, hold-ups, people paying for next day delivery and then disappearing etc.

Saturday's are 8hrs pay flat rate, 4hrs seems to be average for those days.

BSc, MSc and yet company directorship etc is my idea of hell. £30,000 pa and an engineering/industry role would leave me with a nice lifestyle and a job I lived.

That said, I appear to have a knack for contracts management
