Decent part-time student jobs?

I'm currently a student at university in London, but thinking about getting a part time job. I've secured myself something for the Christmas vacation, but don't know how it will pan out in the longer term. So, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for part time jobs (i.e. <20hrs/week) that are either more interesting than working on a shop floor or earn a bit more than minimum wage, or both! Any ideas? What did you do as a student? I have little to sell myself on, having only worked a few retail bits, and in telesales during my year out.

Caring, especially domiciliary caring (where you visit people in their own homes). Usually pays slighty more than minimum wage, lots of demand for evening and weekend workers and you get to meet some really interesting characters. You do need some form of transport though, but depending on the area a moped or bike might do.
Mystery shopping. I worked for the Grass Roots Group as a student whilst in London. The work was very patchy but being paid to eat takeaway food, pop into banks to ask a few questions and so on is easy money, plus you get to pick what jobs you take on and you get some leeway on the exact scheduling of a visit.

Same sort of position as you. Left school, decided against uni this year in favour of work. Found part time office work via a job agency.
I signed up to a local job agency, and had a job with no interview (postroom/ setting up meeting rooms) in Paddington in the space of a couple of days! Pay is very nice too

What industry are you hoping to go into after study? I ask because when I was studying design I got a part time job at a design and print shop, tought me quite a bit but I also really enjoyed it, which is more than can be said for some student jobs I had that weren't relevant.
My OH also did something in her industry and went part time in a bank. Helped her out as she jumped on the grad scheme after finishing, but already knew the ins and outs which werent a requirement for joning. So has helped her on her way to bank manager a bit quicker.

Bank would be my suggestion, above min wage and you get a bonus which comes in handy. Also, no requirements for applying but sales will see you in good stead.

Paintball marshalling, I did it while at uni in Southampton at weekends and it brought me in £400 a month for having fun. Most sites will take you on with little to no experience as long as you are willing to put the work in and most will have you on a one day trial to see what you're like (unpaid).
They'll likely pay you around £50 a day especially in the London area once you've worked there a few weekends and are up to speed and give you a free lunch. And with them being in the London area they'll probably have some weekday sessions as well as most weekends.
You've got Bricket Wood paintball centre in St Albans that's busy and not far away from your Uni, run by a bloke called Yorkie. Nice bloke always got time for a chat on site, loves what he does.

If you've got your own transport as well, there is Campaign near Cobham which is a little bit further away. They are a huge site and defo have mid week sessions and are busy every weekend, my friend Tony McGuinty is the site manager. Again top bloke and will likely give you a trial day if you show you're willing to work hard and turn up every weekend.

There is also Mayhem Paintall Games in the centre of London, but I don't know much about that site other than its indoors.
Failing that on a similar line of work but not outside there is being a Marhsall at Indoor Karting if you can find one near too you, I'm sure there must be a couple dotted about.
