A local cv advisor supplied by the local council. I was referred to the service by my local job centre. The job centre btw is only for the unemployed. I am good at what I do. But I hate what I do. I'm studying at college part time but its going to be another 3 and a half years before I have a qualification of any use. And yes I do wash myself atleast once a day.How specialist, what field and what training, may we ask?

You say you are good at what you do but knowing what that actually is might help? Also, are you looking to stay in a similar field or move into something else?I'm currently a chef. Not the TV kind. In the past it's been I will do anything and have applied to jobs as such. Now I want to go in to some sort of engineering field. I'm not setting my sights too high for the time being though, only applying for machine operators and apprentice positions (I'm 25 so that'll be a dead end, got to be in it to win it though). Must of the job round here require a HNC which I've already started to work towards. But like I said that's 3 n half years away.
I'd like to congratulate you on your determination.
It also seems like your spelling is better than many and your attention to detail appears quite good too.
From what I have seen about being a chef, it is quite tiring, long hours and poor pay.
Perhaps you should try to think outside of the box.
It could well be worth doing 'something' so that you are in employment whilst looking for other work.

What HNC are you studying? It shouldn't take that long, even part time, to get an HNC in engineering if that is what the roles you are applying for require, probably two years max should get you an HNC. Engineering isn't my field but i'm sure someone else on here may be able to help. Could you possibly try to help out (unpaid though i'd imagine) in some way with, for example, an amateur race team and if you shine there you never know what doors it might open, you never know!There are no age restricitions on apprenticeships. It only depends on your level of funding from LSC before. 25 is fine. employers are coming round to older apprentices who actually want to learn and work compared to a 16 year old straight ot of school.

It is always easier to get work when you're in work. So maybe get some temp chef work?

I'm doing a Level Btec first. I need to do it before I can do my HNC. I'm going down the engineering route, I haven't decided which discipline yet but I don't need to until I've finished this course.
I'd happily work unpaid to gain experience but it would certainly have to be part time as I can't afford otherwise to do so.
Many of the positions I've applied for have been off over the apprenticeship website. A few do have adult apprentices, their all on the same course as I am and have all been working with their companies for years or have previous experience. Also as far as I'm aware there is no extra funding given to a company for taking on an apprentice of my age hence why it doesn't happen.
