Anyone here a PCSO?
Discussion
Anyone on here a PCSO? Or know anyone well who is one?
What's it like as a job? What sort of people tend to get on well with the job role? What skills / qualities is it essential to have to be good at and enjoy the job? Is it fulfilling/rewarding or just a daily grind of dealing with scrotes who are well aware of your (lack) of power?
Several years ago I applied for a PCSO job position but funding was slashed just as I got through to the highest level of the application. Had recruitment contact me again today saying some places available and I'm on a sort of priority waiting list.
I'm still interested, however I've started progressing a bit more at my current job, and have many years of service there with some fairly favourable long-service perks.

I have a close friend who is ( currently on maternity leave though). She likes the job but is frustrated that she doesn't get to do what we all thought they were introduced to do - liaison with e community! She spends a lot of time being back up for the police on a friday night and of course with no powers of arrest etc, have to put up with a fair bit of abuse.
