Does this sound like there is a real job available?

My wife applied for job via the Job Centre website.

She get a reply from the agency (which I find may be running the JC job search) that reads:

"The group interview will be no longer than 45 minutes with 8 or less applicants present. You are required to bring with you a pen (doesn’t matter which colour or type) and an excellent attitude!"

Would I be right in thinking that it's just the next level up from agencies CV harvesting?

The supermarkets tend to interview in this way, I personally don't like the idea but they use it to set you group tasks and then tend to ask individual questions. So could be an interview for the role she's applied for and not to do with the job centre.

It's an assessment centre. I don't rate them but lots of firms use them for CS jobs.

They replied that the job is working for them and they have received a lot of applicants so are doing group interviews as a first stage.

Incidental they are not the recruitment agency of the same name - that was just me jumping to conclusions.
