How are you finding the industry? It still seems very difficult out there, London seems to be doing ok though with a lot of large projects ongoing / starting soon.

Mace seem to be doing very well in London but not seen much of them up north. The big companys - lend lease, skanska, kier etc again busy in London - anyone know if any are employing in the North?

I used to work with a large main contractor in Scotland and got made redundant about 3.5 years ago. since then they hav continuely shed start every year. there aren't as many large scale projects up here as there were. I'm now out of construction and into oil and gas.

the job market looks to be improving in construction up here, but mainly for medium sized firms but the big boys are still struggling. looks like it could be a few more years until it get moving on bigger projects again

Should be plenty of construction work across the UK soon with the new nuke power plants being built, you need to start digging around the net to see where the first one is being built.

Main contractors QS here. Have to say I've noticed in the last 2/3 weeks that the market has picked up some what. Very ecouraging.
