passport / birth certificate
Discussion
Sorry for the short post, I had a quick search on my phone and couldnt find anything. I am on my way to my office to recieve a b
king for not providing them with my passport or birth certificate to prove that I am allowed to work in the uk... or something.
I have been of full time employment with this company for 4 years and they have my driving license, NI number ect. They are now threatening me with a disiplinary, I could supply these things but it eould cost me to obtain them as I have neither at the moment.
Yes I am English and entitled to work here, they are being t
ts arent they?

They are required to make sure you have the right. They get fined.
If you are British you'd write LICENCE.

I was trying to write a legible post that got my question across on a touchscreen phone whilst walking to the office, speeling was the last thing on my mind Odie said:

They have more photographs of me than my mother and most of them have a big UK stamp on them, whilst most of them don't prove that I have the right to work here they do prove who I am and that hasn't changed since they took a copy of my passport

Go into the HR office and ask for a copy of the passport copy from the file then.
Its about 200 miles north of my office, the chances are that they have lost most of the original copies due to the high turnover of staff and their general incompetence. I just don't like being threatened with disciplinaries because they cant keep their house in order so wanted to kick up a fuss and point out that I have already supplied them with anything they would need to prove my eligibility to work here. I would have been willing to help however I could if they had made a polite request, but saying that I need to either apply for a passport or a copy of my birth certificate just so that they can have a copy or I will be disciplined doesn't sit well with me.
