What are your strengths?
Discussion
Hi everybody.
Ive just come across this question in a job application and need some help with it. How exactly should I write the answer? I imagine people would usually put them as a list but I have tried writing it as a paragraph instead, For example instead of -
Team working,
Punctuality
Politeness
I have put -
I am someone who enjoys working as part of a team. I am eager to learn new things whether that is sitting in a classroom, learning on the job, from a textbook, or through online tutorials and videos.
So would that be better or shall I just keep it in the list format, as I am not really certain on what people expect.
Application is for an apprenticeship in app developing
Thanks

This is a common question that could be answered in a number of ways depending upon the context and outcome required.
Firstly, it could equally be related to your core competencies (your key skills) or your behaviours (how you are as a person). Might be worth listing top 3 of each. More importantly however is to evidence any statement, otherwise they may end up being the same hollow words that every other applicant will say and you wont stand out.
For example:
My key strength is my core competence of project management. This is evidenced when I recently led a project to improve...
My key behavioural strength I believe is my ability to develop others. This was evidenced recently when a colleague was struggling with an issue at work and I suggested some courses of action, which included seeking out a mentor and applying for a relevant training programme.
Hope that makes some sense and is a little helpful.
Good luck!

The strengths should be the core skills required in the advert?
The ace thing about being a freelance contractor is a lack of stupid questions like that.
I'm qualified to do the job, I have experience that shows I should be able to do the job, I can start as soon as you get me a contract which is IR35 efficient, and my strength is that I don't want your job, despite the fact that I could do it if I wanted to, and my aim over the period of the contract is to make you look good, for finding me.
