Sorry but I'm failing to see quite why you posted that?
Op are you thinking about joining their ranks?
I find the rates for contract work at JLR a piss-take. Is this because they think that people will be looking to convert to a permanent position and this is a way in? Op are you thinking about joining their ranks?

Why is £19.73/hour a piss take? What qualifications do you have to demand more?
What a stupid reply. £19.73 an hour is a piss take because it's less than the rate that you will normally find associated with the role, which is why they can't get enough guys and is why the same jobs are advertised for month after month.Added to this is the fact that they tie you down to only 40 hours a week, which is crap. If anything, recently the hourly rate they quote has risen slightly.

£20 an hour is £35K a year which for the skills, experience, qualifications the want and desire is a LOW permanent salary. I'm sorry if I come across as arrogant, but I really think it's insulting.

You don't work in the industry do you? That is a pisstake for a contractor in the auto world, most are paying £25+ at the moment I think.
In an I Mech E lecture, a Ford Engineering Director said they needed 1000 Plus extra engineers in the next 2 years. In an IET lecture, a JLR man (a german) Head of something, said they needed 6000 over the next 5 years
In an Royal Society of Aerospace Engineers Lecture, the head of research at Rolls Royce said they'd taken on 1000 extra engineers the previous year, needed 1000 in the UK next year and 5000 over the next 4 years.
Not sure why I go to these things, because they are all a bit sycophantic, but hey.
Supply and demand ?

Why should you be insulted by someone advertising a low rate? If they'd specifically said that's all you in particular were worth it would be a different story.Clearly they're not asking for the going rate though. I notice that a lot of my old colleagues that jumped ship to JLR have left again.
