Applying for a job in a different sector

How could i word an application for a job in the same industry but a different sector?

I am more than confident that i would be able to execute the role but i have minimal experience in that particular sector. The sector that its in is the area that ive wanted to work in since leaving school (i am now 31) but the flow of things took me into other areas and i became a bit too comfortable but its time for a change. Ive got all the required qualifications plus more the only thing holding me back is the experience.

Up until this point ive never had to fill in an application or produce a CV. Some might say ive had it a bit lucky.

Very difficult mainly because you would be competing for the job against candidates who would have more relevant experience.

Best way is to move internally (even if that means moving to different employer in your same role then moving internally to different department

Well, you've made a start on your cover letter already with those emotive and convincing words! I wouldn't hold back if it's something you really want to do; you've got nothing to lose I guess?

I'd work up the cover letter in the style above. I'd then work hard on an outcomes based CV, attempting to match your competencies to those routinely required in that sector. Concurrently, I'd be getting some exposure in the new sector through networking and work experience (in your own time) to both get additional insights and to show commitment.

Regarding a CV and covering letter, do i need some fancy template or will simply typing it up on word be acceptable?
