Any tips for being a car salesman?
Discussion
There is a lot sales material on the net, its crazy. From subliminal techniques to pressure sales.
But basically...
identify needs ("I want a car for the summer"..... "ah really, only for the summer, or would it be used in Winter too?"..."occassional winter use")
match product with need (we have three cars which suit your needs...1. the hard top with the sun roof, 2. the panaromic windscreen 3. the the convertible with our top of the range heating system for those wintery days)
confirm ( which car do you like? do you like heating system, or would you prefer the hard top? "I prefer the hard top"..."why is that?"..."the sun roof is perfect for ventilation plus the heating system is great"...."yes, the sun roof is fantastic, can you see yourself driving down the road with the sun roof open, while being cosy in the winter?"..."yes, yes I can"
close the deal- you know the customer wants the sun roof- ask for the business (so, this car meets all your needs in all conditions, how would you like to pay?)
seriously, take a look at youtube for no end of sales patter from different cultures.

Has he any morals? If yes, beat the s
t out of him and shag his dog until he loses them.
If no, can he pretend that he has morals ? If no, see above.
If yes he has no morals, but can pretend he has them so he'll be fine.
Seriously though, I would have thought (as a punter) that knowing when to shut up and always telling the truth, would be a good start.

Since he's only working for one marque, then it should be relatively easy for him to learn the products inside and out, which is what I would recommend. Alot of people are clued up about the cars they go to look at nowadays, due to reviews, and the internet, so if he can do less to potray himself as clueless about them, or tell less tall tales about them to get a sale, the better.

As above...Brother is looking for advice on how to sell a car to someone, questions to ask etc. Has just landed a job with Audi
One would imagine Audi and/or whoever owns the dealership will provide some training. It's a bit pointless taking him on as a salesman if they keep how to do it a secret.NateWM said:
