Hi all
been with my company 25 years in various roles, and have been told this morning that my job has been regraded from a '3' to a '4'.
The job role has not changed and although my base salary will not reduce, as a grade 4 job does not have a car allowance I will lose £5k a year due to the removal of this benefit. (Future possible bonus payments will also reduce as a grade 4 has a lower % of salary bonus scheme)
Seems wrong to me, but imagine they are actually allowed to do this without any issues. Can anyone confirm?

Yes they can. Is it just you that has been regraded or is it a wider exercise?

In my team, just me.
Some have been made redundant and although I'm thankful I am still employed, it irks me to have this cut and still be expected to do the same role.
Thats modern business I suppose. Many many people are in a worse position so I'm not going to moan too much

Company car allowance part of your original contract? Must be frustrating..

They are breaching your contract, and cannot do so without having a sound business reason, consulting with you on the reasons why and then giving you contractual notice of the change. It sounds like you would not wish to fight them over this, but if you wish to, take further advice.
