I'm an engineer. I don't even understand 5% of the job description. What does it all mean ?

hehe

Well, it's not an engineering job, is it? It's to manage the marketing of a product. Sounds straightforward enough to me.

Kill me.

It sounds like a role to work out yet more abominations that tap into the MINI brand. Having done the convertible, coupe, off road and estate versions it sounds like you'd need some pretty good imagination to come up with anything new.

I was thinking the ocean going version, or perhaps the one that converts into a helicopter.

Product Manager. Basically it's managing the marketing of a specific product - in this case, the Mini brand...

  • Identify who doesn't have a Mini and think of BS to get them to buy one.
  • Identify who does have a Mini and think of BS to get them to buy a new one.
  • And possibly, identify who's growing out of their Mini and think of BS to upsell them to a BMW.
If you go to an interview make sure you use the word 'granular' a lot. It's the latest BS buzzword among marketing bods. Makes me wish military assault weapons were more easily available every time I hear it, but anyway...

I wasn't about to apply, for 2 reasons:

1) it's permanent - I only do freelance
2) I wouldn't get it, as I'm a chartered manufacturing engineer, and don't use the word granular very often

Blimey, I've been out of corporate BS for over a year - they can't still be using "granular", so 2011 wink
