Interesting (I hope) question about Statutory Redundancy
Discussion
Something has just come up that has provoked thought...
An individual has 8 years continuous service with a company. Their HR record shows this.
Their first year was in a contract position, which then became a perm. position in exactly the same role, via the offer of a permanent contract.
Is the reference period for the calculation of Statutory (and enhanced) Redundancy 7 or 8 years do you think?

Surely it will depend on the type of contract? I'm a Ltd company contractor. I have no redundancy rights (nor do I want them) from any place I work.
I know a few Ltd company contractors who have gone perm with a client. Their perm time starts starts when their Ltd company issues a P45, and they start with the new company.
