Hey guys,

Was doing a bit of soul searching the other day and was trying to think about what I would like to do in say 10 years time when I am 39/40.

I am currently working towards being a certified accountant and currently work for the local govenment, whilst its an interesting job I can't say its a passion.

This got me thinking, I love cars and would love to work with a manufacturer or dealership but my skill set is really only finance (unless I get a massive boost in funding and become a race car driver lol).

What sort of finance posts come up in dealerships/manufacturers? Are they well paid? Or is it mostly outsorced to accounting firms?

Working for a car garage, unless its Romans or similar will ruin any passion you have in cars as its just turns them into products/sales units.

I agree with the above. It's going to zapp your energy and bored you to tears.

Depends on the size of the company, the larger the company the more varied roles that are available.

I know that we have our own ACCA Platinum Approved training scheme. We have franchise accountants, group accountants, branch accountants and accounts assistants.

There's loads of options. Have a browse of the some of the manufacturers careers pages along with some of the dealership groups.

If you want fun, get into the big 4 or venture capital - and fund a car habit...

I am also in a similar position albeit an actuary. I too would love to work with cars as is my passion and am similar age wise to OP. Does main dealer car sales or main dealer techs do they earn a lot of money ? What sort of pay bracket are they and how long is the training ? I been thinking of all sorts of options of late.

If you are into cars, and like accounting, go to someone like JLR... awesome company car policy...
