Calling HR after an interview
Discussion
Is it considered bad form to call a company's HR department after an interview to see how you got on?
My OH had an interview on Monday, it went well (she thought) and she was told that she would get a call either yesterday afternoon or this morning. She hasn't had a call so we are assuming she wasn't successful but I have told her to ring to find out even if it's just for some feedback. If she was told she would only get a call if successful then I wouldn't have pushed her to call.
Thoughts?

I would personally call to thank them for the interview opportunity, you were really impressed with the company and are very keen to take up employment there; so are following up to see if a decision has been made yet.
This doesn't usually add any value unless the HR person you speak to happens to be the hiring manager. HR or the hiring manager get busy too and so may not have got round to making the call. They may of course still be deliberating. If however there is an excessive delay for no legitimate reason, asking yourself why would you wish to work for such an outfit would be an understandable reaction.
