IT person wanting to travel the world with F1?
Discussion
I've just seen this advertised:

Lotus F1 are looking for an IT guy to work with on their race team... could be a perfect job for someone here?!

And presumably get paid £17k per year?
Okay if:A: It's tax-free.
B: They pay for all your travel, accommodation and food.
C: They actually do pay you. Kimi didn't get paid and he can afford better lawyers than most of us can!
I love travelling and I can easily afford doing it for pleasure with my current job and it's OK but being 20 again I would probably look for a studying and working career more about continuos travelling.
I remember reading someone's experiences of doing the same at McLaren. Have to be one of the first to arrive and last to leave, given how much of a team's setup depends on their IT kit these days. Frequently away from home for a couple of weeks or even longer (with the back-to-back races), but well looked after. Can't really travel too far for sightseeing, etc because you have to be able to drop everything and work on the problem if something breaks. Pay is usually pretty good compared to similar IT jobs at that grade, but in no way compensates for all the extra hours and being away from home all the time.
Very hard work, but for someone with that skillset in their 20s and unattached, it's not a bad way to join the F1 circus.
