Contracting in Norway

Hello
3 of us here at work have been put forward for contracts around Norway. The rate is very good (65% better than the UK), but there are the extra expenses of living there, e.g. I know beer is fall-off-the-chair expensive - I bought one. A few web sites indicate that the cost of living is about 60-90% more expensive than the UK, but the stumbling block seems to be the effective rate of tax, as tax has to be paid in Norway, yet some of it can be claimed back – as I understand it.
I would imagine this question has been raised before - however, I had a search through the archives, but I was obviously typing in the wrong words to search on, so basically - zilch.
Therefore, could anyone ….
Send me in the direction of previous threads?
Or
Provide me (us) with some kind of idea as to what an effective tax take, as a %, it would be?

I lived in Norway for years and my son still works offshore, taxes were high but he tells me they are now little different to UK, problem is you get deductions for things you may not be able to utilize as an expat, mortgage etc. You need to be paid by a UK company so you can pay NHI not Norewgian Arbeidgivers avgift. Saves around 8%.
Cost depend on what you do, cars are expensive eating out is expensive but these days VAT is nearly the same.
Accommodation will depend on where you live Oslo Stavanger are expansive. 65% uplift wouldn’t get me to go there, To give you and idea of where salaries are, My son is 21 and gets 70K pounds a year plus overtime offshore for 2 weeks on 4 weeks off he goes to Uni for two of the 4 weeks to do his masters and the employer pays the fees, when he left Uni he had three offers all basically the same as they still have employee rights in Norway.
I saw some figures the other day where petrol was the highest in Europe in absolute terme figures but very low compared to earnings.
When I lived in Norway medical treatment was first class, but I am told by relatives that state hospitals today are overcrowded so you may want private medical.
My advice would be go if you fancy it, when i was there i enjoyed the sking and climbing but now I'm older and would strggle to do it every weekend, so the life style doesn't interest me.
