Train maintenance
Discussion
I'm trying to find out a bit of info about this type of role. I know someone who is interested in getting involved in this line of work. How does this sector generally work , trains maintained in house or subbed out ? All bits of info great fully received if someone on here actually does this line of work even better.
I used to work on the railway, but not train maintenance. I'm pretty sure train operating companies such as Virgin and first maintain the trains in house.
There's an apprenticeship type affair run by Pete waterman in Crewe that does this sort of stuff.
Could be worth a look/email. I could possibly get in touch with a Virgin train driver who will know a maintainer I'd say if you had dome specific questions.

At the minute he is in the armed forces and looking to trains as a future career.
Is he maintaining machines within the armed forces? It'll give him a great grounding if he is. My cousin was in the army maintaining tanks and when he came out he enjoyed a succession of fascinating roles in mechanical and electrical maintenance.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
