Theres a job at a nuclear power plant near me for a operate technician.

The job description only tells me so much really so im wondering if anyone can help describe what exactly you do? It says you only need GCSE'S and it pays quite well, 30,000-35,000.

Is it hard manual labour? Do you need to be really clever? Do you wear protective equipment a lot?

Its actually an Operations Technician, there will be some hard manual labour during shutdowns or maintenance periods and you might have to wear protective clothing, which they will provide free of charge. You will get good training and HSE awareness too, I worked 12 years in a Nuke station and had a great time whilst in there.

How often are the shutdown/maintenence periods? Are the job prospects good like can you work your way up? Do you get good shift pay for doing nights etc?
