Not sure where this should go, so I'll put it here, but if mods disagree then please point me in the right direction!
Are there any PHers playing poker for a living? It'd be interesting to discuss this game of the Gods from a professional point of view rather than a purely leisurely activity, and perhaps more entertaining to vent frustrations and tilt rampages over a certain type of player (often from a certain country)...
I'm currently embarking on the journey to (hopefully) becoming a professional poker player. My background is in trading, which I have found out is very similar to playing poker, so I'd like to think I have a fair understanding of it. I'm only a couple of months into it, and although I'm a few quid down I like to think I'm not completely devoid of any talent.
My biggest flaw however is without doubt how I deal (or don't deal) with variance. It's not that I lose my mind or go all-in like a mad man, I just find myself forcing the hands and playing them like I would normally... and then quickly proceed to lose them, hand after hand after hand. Any profits are quickly turned into losses doing that, and short of quitting I'm not sure how to deal with such downswings. Any ideas?
