dear all, i wonder if anyone has contact details for good contract agency companies for IT contracting?

yes i could just google, but i wouldn't know if the agency was any good and there are a few of you on here contracting, so i would value your input please.

also what sort of rates are going at present for system admin, network support type roles? i'm currently doing that sort of thing but in education and it's not great pay but keeps the wolf from the door, but don't want to pitch myself too high. did that when i started and one place just hung up on me.

any other help, forums etc would be great

Agencies don't generally represent you, they represent the job. Go on jobserve and apply for contract jobs. Your agent will be whatever one advertising the role.

As to rates, again you will get this from jobserve, however the agent might try to drive your rate down (bigger margin for them).

I when I got my current role I had another offer on the table. The other contractor I work with had nothing else, and was desperate to get anything. There is a £70 per day difference between us for what is essentially the same job, with the same company, via the same agent.
