When attending an occupational health meeting/interview, is it common practice to have a member of management present?

I've had a few of these over recent years and I've never had any management present. Never been asked if management can attend either.

If you have one with management then I'd imagine you will be allowed to bring someone independent also, a friend, colleague or union rep.

Quite the opposite. I would always want any of my staff and managers to be absent from meetings to understand your health issues. If the meeting was for identifying changes to the work or work place then it could be done. Unusual in my experience but understandable.

Definitely not common. This is a private meeting between you and the OH Doctor / Nurse. management will get a report of the findings but they are NOT supposed to be there.

I've done several of these - always have been private. The report back to the company (when I've seen it) has been along the lines of "will/will not require workplace adjustments", without referencing specific conditions.

Again, IME, not common. Work/management may have submitted some questions for the assessor to ask and will receive the report including the answers to these, other questions and a recommendation.

No becasue it's not a clinical consultation then is it , OH appointments are the same as any other clinical interaction i.e. subject to usual patient confidentiality practice ...

i can think of only 2 situations where a manager would be present is such a situation

1. a discussion about reasonable adaptations following a clinical assessment suggesting that they are required .

2. a site visit with regard to reasonable adaptations.
