Specialising advice required
Discussion
I know there are many IT specialists on here and I want seek some advice.
I've had a reasonably good career thus far in Microsoft System Engineering and I am very much interested and to a certain extent fascinated with the Storage element. It's the first time something within the industry interested me in this way.
The whole point is - I'm a bit of a generalist. I've done Exchange migrations, plenty of AD work, general support and admin for various companies and sizes.
I am currently studying SNIA Storage+ which is a very good fundamental and I intend to fulfil the expert certification levels
I have mostly done contracting roles and I really don't want that to change, however, if I specialise I will effectively be starting again in many senses.
Has anybody done anything similar in their career?
Will need to go perm to get the storage array experience?
Any advice would be very helpful.
TIA
