Ive been offered an interview but the date of it has changed, so im not off now and im going to have trouble swapping. I dont want my boss to know but also dont want to ring in sick as it will leave them in the st.

How do i go about this problem?

If they Re arranged at their request to suit them, I would call and ask them if you can re arrange to a Nother more convinent date.

Most people understand that it is not always possible to make set times etc, so shouldn't be an issue.

Is the date change late notice? If so, this could be viewed suspiciously as a tactic to reduce availability to improve the internal candidates' chances. If it's the job you really do want, ask for time off at work and have the courage of your convictions is one tactic. Otherwise, as stated above, ask them for a new date convenient to yourself. Good luck!

Step one - Ask them to change the date again (they changed it after you'd arranged things for them the first time)

Step two - If they won't do step one, ask someone at work if they'll cover for you for a couple of hours?

Step three - Speak to your manager and tell them you need the day off for something else (i.e. lie - girlfriend uncles funeral or something where they can't really say no - Dentist root canal etc )

Step four - Pull a sickie and sod em.
