Handing in notice
Discussion
Been made an offer that i can't really refuse - and hope to have it confirmed in writing this week, and they want me ASAP albeit i've told them it'll probably be early October.
I'm on a standard 4 week notice period but go away on hols late next week returning to work 1st September.
I'm tempted to chop my notice in before i go but i've held out so that i can use my current company car to get me on my hols, plus to be paid whilst i'm away (i get paid leave at current employer but won't at new place due to way contract is going to work.
Do i wait until 1st week in September and realistically have to work at current place til early October, or do i use 2 and a bit weeks of holidays as part of my 4 weeks notice?
Actually comtemplating chopping in notice next week and offering to stay until end of September (i.e. 6 weeks of which away 2), so i can make a clean end of the month break and won't have any overlap into a new month.

Firstly, get your offer for the new job in writing before you give any notice.
If you plan to start the new job 1st October, firstly agree this is okay with the new employer and get this in writing. Then give your 4 week notice when you return from holiday on 1st September.

Felt it good to be around when my boss asks for a chat!
He's been fair with me and you never know when you might need them in the future!
I was once told to 'be careful who you s**t on on your way up, you may meet them again on your way down'. It was good advice. He's been fair with me and you never know when you might need them in the future!
You seem be doing it the right way.
