Implementation Manager vs Delivery Manager

Hi all,

Does anyone know the difference between the above?
My assumption is that the Implementation Manager just deals with the release of code or projects into production and a Delivery Manager deals with scope, testing, readiness, implementation and any post tasks for multiple projects at one time.
I have changed role into a Implementation Manager position however I think I am actually performing as a Delivery Manager

My clients often use the terms interchangeably. It may mean something specific to your organisation though.

To me, an implementation manager does what you think a delivery manager does. I would expect the delivery manager to deliver a stage i.e. one of the points listed.

For the most part I think they are interchangeable these days. If pressed I would say that an implementation manager was a more project based role whereas delivery manager was a ongoing responsibility. Job titles are meaningless these days. Just look at the American banks - everybody is a VP.

^ This would be my understanding of the main difference.

A lot of Organisations have specialists managers in Implementation especially where the infrastructure is particularly complex (read unwieldy!). I would suggest a Delivery Manager and Programme Manager are more interchangeable in terms of role whereas the role of Implementation Manager is more often than not assumed by a Project Manager (I certainly have done in the past).
