Prince2 Training

Looking to bolster my PM quals and therefore get Prince2 qualified, any advice on the below much appreciated:

1. Is it realistic to do the Foundation & Practitioner qual in 5 days using a training provider? They look fairly straightforward and I will read up beforehand

2. Has anyone got any experience of "The knowledge Academy LTD" they run courses all over the country , I am looking at doing the Foundation & Practitioner 5 day course in Swindon, it is advertised £899. I have had a quick Google and cant find much either way on it

Any pointers on the above most appreciated

Plenty of my colleagues did it and completed it in the 5 day course. However, they did say it's fairly hard work - you will need to do 'homework' in the evenings for that week.

Doable in 5 days. Worth it? Not convinced unless you are doin government jobs. I'd take a PMI cert over Prince if I'm recruiting and I have Prince

I used Knowledge Academy, the instructor was excellent but I think that was luck of the draw.

If you book it last minute, you'll get it for a lot less than £899.

It's definitely do-able in 5 days.

Work out your motivations for doing it, and make sure they stack up. The only value in my view is to get past CV filters.

Cheers , whilst I am not looking for work at the moment (happy in current role) I don't know what will happen over the next few years, I have run a few high level projects and manage the technical aspects of businesses (reporting to director level). I tried to get contract Project Management roles in the past, was really keen and really believed that I would be good , but the lack of specific qualifications (namely Prince2) didn't get my foot in the door.

Speaking to agents & contractors, they say get it (and agree you might not ever use it) as it gets your foot in the door for project roles.

Plus I want to pull my finger out a bit and learn a new qualification/skillset

Stay well away from The Knowledge Academy. I know of several people who were messed around by them. They are cheap for a reason. I used Quanta for my Prince 2 Foundation & Practitioner course around 18 months ago(5 day course in Worcester) and they were excellent - I can't rate them high enough. Not cheap but they're very knowledgeable. The course is doable within the 5 days if you apply yourself - there were people there doing resits however I passed first time. I found Agile to be more relevant to what I do and more enjoyable - Prince2 was painful...

Since I've done the course, I've worked for a Big Four consultancy firm and a major IT company and have yet to use the methodology - it's a CV filter and that's how I view it.

QA in Swindon was where i went and for my recertification 5 years later. No complaints.
