Recruitment consultants ... what do they actually earn?

I had a brief foray in IT Recruitment some time ago and a couple of the Consultants managing large accounts were earning very good money.
I recall one picking up a monthly pay cheque of circa £60K on one occasion. It was something of a one off as a number of commissions all landed in the same month but he still must have gone on to earn over £150K that year. The other was earning well in excess of £100K per annum but she did have to sell her brand new 911 and replace it with a debadged BMW 330 as it was raising a few too many eyebrows when she was visiting her managed client.
The basic salaries are usually not much more than minimum wage, but commissions can be quite generous.

A year one consultant could in theory hit that number, the key is are the joining an established team, good manager and will they get live active accounts. If it's a new desk, under performing team it is a hard job.
Base will be around £25k. yes do able I would say for the top 20% of the new hires.
